Operation Frontline Cooking Demos
Location: Central Area Senior Center, 500 30th Ave S, Seattle
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Each of these fun cooking classes will feature an easy, tasty, low cost and healthy recipe using seasonal produce. There will be a sample-size–tasting of the recipe. Learn tipss for how to cook for one, how to cook vegetables in the microwave (and make them taste good) and other topics. The classes will be lead by a local chef volunteer. These classes are designed for everyone, including people with Diabetes. Please call the Central Area Senior Center (CASC) @ 206-726-4926 to register. Space is limited.

Aging at Home Initiative
Location: The Brig at Magnuson Park, building 406, 6344 NE 74th St, Seattle

The Healthy Aging Partnerhsip's (HAP) Aging at Home Initiative can help your community! Please encourage teams of 2-5 older adults in your community to participate by attending a free one-day Aging at Home workshop.  

Participants will learn about Aging at Home from experts in the areas of healthy living, emergency preparedness, lifelong learning, and civic engagement/volunteerism.  Workshop participants will also learn about grant funding available for teams of older adults that want to make Aging at Home a reality in their own communities. After the workshop, teams of older adults will have the an opportunity to apply for up to $5,000 to implement an Aging at Home project that meets their community's needs.

LGBT Elder Summit

The summit will be a discussion, think tank and learning experience to make services for LGBTQ elders in all cultures, accessible and safe in health care and social Services, housing, and all walks of life.   Keynote speaker will be Grethe Cammermeyer, and there will be two panels of community, professionals and funders discuss what they have been doing and what we hope to do in the future.

Serving Our Homeless Elderly

Join us for a conversation about Serving Our Homeless Elderly.  Discussion will include demographics, trends, geriatric service needs, successful approaches, and challenges and opportunities within King County’s Ten Year Plan.

The event is an effort by the Senior Housing and Supportive Services partnership whose purpose is to increase the awareness of the need for housing to meet the needs of elders through the lifespan; develop the connections to enable necessary supportive services delivery; and strengthen residents’ ability to age in the place they call home.
