ADS Awarded "Farm to Table" CPPW Grant

ADS was among the recipients of 51 Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) grants totaling $8.9 million from Public Health - Seattle & King County to fund school districts, community-based organizations, and local governments to improve nutrition and physical activity, and decrease tobacco use.
ADS will develop a Farm to Table project to improve access to and affordability of fresh local produce in senior nutrition and childcare programs. The project outcomes include connecting 3 senior meal sites with local farmers by June 2011 and expanding the Farm to Table model to childcare settings and other senior meal programs through March 2012.
Partners include: Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) Farm to Schools Program; Puget Sound Food Network (PSFN); Early Learning and Family Support (ELFS), a division of the Seattle Human Services Department; King County Housing Authority; and ADS funded senior nutrition providers including Catholic Community Services, Lifelong Aids Association/ Chicken Soup Brigade, and Senior Services.
