2018AfrAmerCaregiversForumFlyerThe Seattle Mayor’s Council for African American Elders, African American Elders Program, and other co-sponsors invite you to attend “Legacy of Love,” the 2018 African American Caregivers Forum. This FREE annual event is planned for caregivers, including those whose loved ones are experiencing Alzheimer’s or a related dementia, and community providers (5 CEUs offered). This unique, culturally-focused event draws family caregivers from throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The six-hour program includes presentations:
- “Caregiver Hope, Love & Resiliency,” by George Dicks, BA, GMHS, RCMHP, Harborview Mental Health Services
- “Food for Thought: Culturally Competent Dialogue about Alzheimer’s, Caregiving, and Advocacy among African Americans,” by Cary Goodman, Balm in Gilead
- “Our Lives, Our Choices: Planning for End-of-Life,” by Dr. Jim deMaine, Retired Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician, Group Health
- “Caregivers: Loving from the Front Line”—a caregiver panel comprising Connie Bown, Daphne Jones, and Taylene Watson
The day also includes exhibits, entertainment, lunch and drawings for prizes.
